With family by her side, Betty Anne (B.A.) died peacefully in her 80th year, on Friday July 4th, 2025 at the hospital in Southampton, Ontario. Betty Anne was the beloved mother of Harold (Hank) Turcotte and his wife Leslie, and John Turcotte and his wife Shan Wevill. She was the proud Grandma D of Jonah, Ben (Keltie), Gabe (Selena), and Audrey (Sybil).
Betty Anne loved books and was a voracious reader working for several years as a librarian. Throughout the years she also worked as a loans officer at the Bank of Nova Scotia, a counsellor at the Diet Centre, and a fundraiser for Unitarian House in Ottawa. She loved animals, sarcasm, the fall colours of the trees, pizza, murder mysteries, watching Battle of the Blades, hockey games, and hearing about the adventures of her grandkids. She was a sharp wit and was still making glib comments to the doctors and nurses up until the day before she passed. She was a prolific knitter and many family members were beneficiaries of her hobby. Betty Anne talked a lot about how grateful she was to live in such a great place. Thanks to the VON, she was able to live independently in her home.
The family is especially grateful to the VON workers, the nurses at the Southampton hospital, and Dr. Billings who were all so very kind to Betty Anne.
A celebration of life will be planned for the fall.
Memorial donations to VON Grey Bruce would be appreciated by the family.
