Ethel Reeves Obituary

Ethel passed away peacefully at Southbridge LTC, Owen Sound on Thursday, August 3, 2023 in her 92nd year.  Effie was the loving wife of the late Edward George Reeves, retired CNR conductor at the Welland Weigh Freight ( died January 17, 2007 ), beloved Mom of Dennis and his wife Brenda, proud Nanny of Sean and his wife Jennifer, and Ashley and her husband John.  She was the Great Nanny of Veronika, James, Isla, Olivia, and Jack.  She leaves behind her dear sister Bonnie and her husband Adriaan Zyta.  Effie is predeceased by her sister Grace and her husband Henry Verheye , and her brother Roy Ferguson and his wife Goldie.  Effie will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.
Effie was born in Moorefield , married in, Listowel and has lived in Harriston, Brantford and for a great deal of her life in Chippawa.
She enjoyed her work at Snodgrass Pharmacy in Chippawa as a pharmacist assistant/clerk where she spent many happy hours with her co-workers and clients whom she quickly befriended. After retiring, Effie volunteered with the Salvation Army’s store where she once again built many friendships.
Ethel was dedicated to her family, especially her son Dennis, and grandchildren Sean and Ashley.  She loved to challenge them to a rousing game of cards and would often be found counting her winnings at our family get togethers.
Effie taught us all how to work hard, budget efficiently, generously give of ourselves to others and hold our family close.
Our loved ones are never far when we hold them in our heart.
We love you forever Mom. Now, go have another waltz with Dad.

A celebration of Eddie and Effie’s lives will take place at Knox Presbyterian Church in Listowel, 220 Livingstone Ave North, on Saturday September 16, 2023 at 1:00pm.
