Gary Desmond Huston

It is with great sadness and a profound sense of loss that the family and friends of Gary Huston announce his passing on November 15th, 2024, at University Hospital in London, at the age of 73. Gary was predeceased by his parents, Sam and Betty Huston, and his sister, Virginia Frost, who died only two weeks before Gary’s passing. He is survived by his nieces, Vanessa Lankester of Sudbury, Ontario, and Bryna Johnstone (Simeon) of Esquimalt, British Columbia, and their children. Gary also leaves behind a host of friends in Southampton, London, Toronto, and Niagara whose lives will be much diminished by the loss of this wonderful man.

Gary had a gift for life. He was fun-loving, smart, witty, whimsical, stylish, and caring. He gave great hugs and was a shoulder to lean on for many. He was someone who listened deeply and accepted people exactly as they were.

Gary lived life on his own terms and always met his obligations selflessly and with much kindness. He created fabulous, quirky pieces of art and his home was an ongoing creative project that brought joy to many. There was no one like him and Gary’s passing leaves a huge hole in the lives of the many people who loved him.

A celebration of Gary’s life will take place at a later date.
