James "Jim" Blair Obituary

After a brief hospital stay, on July 10, 2024, James “Jim” Wilson Blair in his 93rd year, entered the gates of heaven to dance with his BB. Loving husband, soul mate, and best friend of the late Lois “B.B” Blair (nee Barfoot), father to Shelley Black and her husband Peter, Grandpa to Tyler “TJ” Watson (Victoria), and Tamara Waples (Dale), and Great Grandpa to Emily, Cohen, Khymirah, Anuhea "Annie”, Nolan, and Tristan “Bam Bam”. Brother-in-law of Maggie Walmsely and the late Lorne, Marg Barfoot and the late Paul. Predeceased by his parents Cecil and Rita Blair, in laws Alvin and Lena Barfoot, his brother Jack and his late wife Lillian, sister-in-law Vera Hargest-Crymbal and her late husbands Sam and Brian. Jim will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.

Incredible is a word that many used to describe Jim. He was a best friend, a mentor, a hero to many but mostly a role model. In his later years, Jim could often be seen riding his bike around town, working on his garden or being the number one fan at diamonds or the pitch of his grand kids.

For 50 years he was the cheerful man behind the counter at Chapman’s wallpaper and paint. He had a passion for volunteering, being the friendly face for 18 years that greeted you at the Owen Sound hospital. As well, for many years he was involved with schools breakfast program and delivering for meals on wheels.

Jim was a member and past president of the Silver C’s, which he looked forward to every Tuesday. He was a past member and president of the Kiwanis club and past chairman of the Santa Claus parade for 21 years. Jim loved to give back to the community that he loved.

As per Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would love to have donations made to Canadian Tire JumpStart Charity.
